Meet the Mantas
Swim alongside manta rays in Hanifaru Bay, a protected feeding ground in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, just a 10-minute boat ride from Dharavandhoo. Our guides and rangers keep watch from dawn, and the moment mantas are spotted, you’ll get the call. Grab your mask and join us on the water to float among these gentle giants, and with luck, their whale shark companions.
Manta season in Baa Atoll runs from May to November, during the wet southwest monsoon. As the tides and currents sweep plankton into Hanifaru Bay, mantas gather to feed, sometimes swirling together in chains, and whale sharks may join them.
